here, brown is used to emphasize the waning autumn season and the general despair of this couple. there is a growing, palpable separation. the peace is called something like Waning Honeymoon.

The Soul and Spirit of Brown
The colour brown is a warm reminder. It is simultaneously sensual and contemplative. It is both yearning and silently assured. I do not remember when or why I began to gravitate toward it in earnest, but I do remember that it had something to do with surrender. Every colour has its own beauty to boast, its own secret language, and its own agenda in the world.
Brown anchors, it adheres, it builds. It is both solid and liquid, both molten and cool. It demands no audience but requires a response.
Whatever form it takes--chocolate, honey, amber, buttery leather, mahoganey wood, or pressed mocha java beans--it is true. Whether you call it raw umber or burnt sienna, it is unmistakable. even if you lighten it to taupe, tan, beige, or mochaccino, it still knows you well.
